Bring Your Daughter to Work...

I had to work again this Friday so my wonderful husband offered to take care of Lyla while I was at my meeting. He took her to the office. She got to watch Yo Gabba Gabba in the CEO's office (instead of the usual programming, CNBC) and made friends with all the girls.  Boy, is she trouble.

Spring has Sprung!

Last weekend we had one of those glorious days where you absolutely can't wait for summer and full-time flip flop wearing.  We were so lucky that it was on Saturday, rather than a Wednesday (which is usually what happens and it's usually when you are swamped at work, but I digress).  We grabbed a picnic lunch and headed to Washington Market Park with Lyla.

Did I mention the little bugger is walking now??  So it was the first time at the park she was actually able to play on all the equipment.

She loved the slide.

But, she didn't love the slide etiquette -- you know, climb the steps, wait your turn, slide down, repeat.  She wanted to go down the slide and then either (a) climb back up the slide or (2) have her mommy or daddy pull her right back up to the top of the slide to go again.  We tried our best to teach her the right way to do it, but she has a mind of her own.  More than one person has described her as "strong-willed."  That's kind of an understatement.  But, when the slide was clear, we let the princess have her way.  She was actually pretty good at climbing up.

Tuckered out after a hard day of playing.

Favorite Shots

I just got my final order from Lyla's one year photo shoot.  I've narrowed my favorites down to these:

Happy Belated St. Patty's Day

We're a little behind on our posting because we've all had the sniffles and have been battling bad colds. It all started around St. Patty's day. We had planned a big night out at The Open Door, but wehen I got home from work, Lyla was fast asleep and woke up coughing and sneezing. So we got in our jammies and had a St. Pat's celebration at home.

I hope this is not a pattern, because I remember what she was like last St. Patrick's day.

Sleeping

For the true Lyla lovers out there, here is 27 seconds of bliss.  Sweet Lyla taking an afternoon nap.

Happy Birthday To Me

This weekend I celebrated my birthday surrounded by my favorite people in the whole world.

Mark planned a totally fun Saturday night out. We checked into the Gramercy Park Hotel late on Saturday afternoon. We had some drinks at Rose Bar , then tapas at Poco . Our dinner reservation was at 9:30, which is really late for me (boy how things have changed...this used to be our standard reservation time but lately our reservations are usually in the 6:30ish range...) After dinner, we headed to Gold Bar  for some dancing. The bar wasn't open yet when we got there at 11pm (God I feel old), so we had a drink around the corner at Veloce , and headed back to Gold Bar at 11:30. It was a perfect night out. Thanks to Mark for all his planning and to my mom and Nana who spent the night with Lyla.

No pictures of our night out for two reasons. First, Mark told me he does not believe every moment of our lives needs to be photographed. But this has never stopped me before, so... Second, my little point and click camera died after I took this picture of my very handsome husband.

On Sunday we went out to Long Beach. It was a beautiful day and gave me Spring Fever. We took some nice walks, went to watch Nicolas play soccer and had a fun dinner at my parents' house.

Nic had so much fun at soccer.

At dinner, Lyla was showing off her new fork-using skills. Very impressive.

Nic loved his mac and cheese.

As usual, Lyla was loving Nicolas and would not leave his side.

Except for when she making the moves on Christopher. She is aggressively affectionate for sure. We were laughing but Rich said "that's gross, they're cousins."

Terrible Ones?

Lyla got a little carried away playing with the water faucet in the kitchen sink the other day. It started with a little splashing and next thing I know, she was soaked, as were my hard wood floors, bar stools, and the day's mail. I can't blame her too much since I was her willing accomplice who just laughed and kept snapping pictures.
