Halloween 2010

We celebrated Halloween at my Aunt Phyllis' house in Lido Beach. She was so great to host us and such a good sport. She came right from the train from D.C., after attending John Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity, back to her house full of sugar-spiked kids. It was Lyla's first time trick or treating from house to house and I think she caught on pretty quick.

First house was a success!

She loved Chrissy's dinosaur costume.

Star Wars buddies (how handsome?)

My cute pup

Lyla thought my fur vest was my matching dog costume.

Lyla and Chris were a little slower than the rest of her cousins -- typically two houses behind the rest of the bunch. But in the end, that proved to be an advantage. They didn't have to waste time walking up to houses where we knew no one was home and they got a heads up on houses that didn't hand out candy.

Dennis came back from one house as we were approaching and with a very dejected look said to me "It's pretzels." We skipped that one! Thanks, Den!

Lyla's biggest rookie mistake was picking the "bad candy". At one house, she could have chosen, Reeses peanut butter cups, Snickers or Twix and she chose the Whoppers. Another time she picked a Mounds over a Crunch bar. Bad choices, Miss Lyla. The debate of the day was whether Butterfinger is a good choice or bad choice. I say bad.

A perk for the parents. White sangria roadies in vampire cups!

With a pitcher following not too far behind in case anyone was running low.

Lyla got a kick out of all the big kids walking around in costume. She really liked this Elvis!

Back at the house...Grandma and her babies

Dylan stood guard at the door....One for Dylan, One for trick or treaters...One for Dylan, one for trick or treaters. At one point Eileen found about a dozen candy wrappers in Dylan's lap.

We invaded all the toys at Aunt Phyllis' house.

Happy Halloween!

Pretty Girl in Daddy's Shirt

SecondMarket Halloween Party

(Excuse the red-eyed picture above.  The little devil in her shines through even after attempts at red eye reduction)

We kicked off Halloween weekend with a party at SecondMarket, perfectly planned as usual by Kris and Amanda.  Lyla spends a fair amount of time running through the halls of SecondMarket and everyone who works there is always so wonderful to her.  The party was no exception.  The guys were so patient as she invariably interruptted their ping pong and shuffle board games and even took the time to play with her.  What a fabulous group of people :)

We sat Lyla down to have some dalmatian spots put on by the face painter.  She was DONE after two dots and walked around the rest of the day just looking like a dirty puppy.

My mom was in for the day and got into the Halloween spirit :)

Awards for top costume of course go to Amanda as Scott Passet

And poor Collin -- not Colleen -- as a pretty little ballerina.  I do some stuff Lyla will hate me for in 15 years or so, but Jen and Jeremy take the cake with this one.

Lyla was sufficiently addicted to sugar after the party.  Between sucking on chocolate-covered marshmallows and trick-or-treating desk to desk (and never settling for just one piece of candy), Lyla consumed more sugar in one day than she probably has in her entire 20 months in this world.  Doesn't she look like she is in a sugar coma in all of these pictures?

Welcome Home Daddy!

Mark was in Israel all of last week for SecondMarket's Israeli launch. We missed him a ton and are happy he is home with his girls safe and sound.

But it wasn't all business. While Mark was busy enjoying this...

We were having some QGT (Quality Girl Time) at home. We tried on some new accessories, organized our dress up trunk, stayed up late being silly and slept in.
