American Idols Live

I'm a little behind on my blogging because (a) I'm trying to pack as much fun in as I can before I go back to work and (b) I was in Long Beach all of last week without my computer. So, I'll back up a bit and start with the American Idol concert. Yes, I went to the American Idol concert. And, yes, it was awesome. My mom treated me and Dina to tickets and we tagged along with my mom and her friends. It was a big night out for me and Dina. We got dressed at her house (I blew dry my hair for the 3rd time since Lyla has been born) and changed at the very last minute to avoid getting spit up, poop, or any other bodily fluids on our "going out" clothes. Cecilia, her daughter and Nana watched the kids. Dina and I snuck out without even saying goodbye. At the concert our favorites were Matt Giraud and, of course, Adam Lambert. Matt was really bluesy and did a great version of the Black Crowes' Hard to Handle. He just seemed really comfortable with the huge crowd. Adam was more flamboyant than ever and looked like he was having a great time. His Zeppelin song was great as was Mad World. After that, he had on a tight, sleeveless black tank top and tight black pants. He was hip thrusting all over the place and letting out anything he held back on the show. It was great. Kris was also great but his style is a little to mellow to captivate an entire arena. I can see him being great in a small venue. But he looked adorable and I love his version of Heartless. Here's a clip and I apologize if I am breaking any laws by posting it here. Probably the best part of the show was just seeing how much fun my mom had. She bopped and swayed and clapped and boogied the entire time. Here is a little sample of me watching the back of her head for most of the show. She also opened up her cell phone as a lighter and swayed to the music. Meanwhile, back at home, we arrived to three sleeping babies. When I asked how Lyla was, Cecilia said "I think she missed her mommy", which is code for "She cried a lot." Oh well, momma had a good night out.
