Lyla's Birthday

I think we are just about recovered from the excitement of Lyla's birthday. She had a great day, surrounded by people who love her. She went to school that day, so me, Mark and my mom brought cupcakes to school to celebrate. Mark showed up with a dozen roses and nearly blew her mind. It's so cute to see her in her element, staying busy with her little life that we don't get to observe on a daily basis. She loves her school friends, teachers and the daily routine.

After cupcakes, we stayed to read a book and do a craft. Lyla is continuously on a dog kick ("I want a real dog."), so we read a book about dogs, appropriately titled Dogs and then we made dog masks (thank you pinterest). The dog masks were a big hit with the kids!

After school, Aunt Phyllis, Eileen, Dylan and Dennis came over for dinner and ice cream cake to celebrate.

At some point, I should learn how to use my camera so I can capture the birthday girl and the cake.

Lyla sure does love her cousins. Dylan made Lyla a sweet happy birthday drawing.

P.S. my mom got her this ridiculous oversized princess chair for her birthday. Not NYC apartment-friendly. Of course, Lyla loves it.

More on her birthday party coming up.
