Funny Girl
Some of my favorite conversations with Lyla lately:
Lyla: I gotta get to work
Me: Where do you work?
Lyla: I work at SecondMarket?
Me: What do you do there?
Lyla: Ummm, I send emails and work on the computer. I also talk on the phone.
Me: Who do you work with? Lyla: I work with Aishwariya and Maggie and a bunny and butterflies. And they have chocolate there.
Lyla: Mommy, something is wrong with my hand.
Me: What's wrong?
Lyla: It feels like a porcupine.
Me: I think you were lying on it for too long. That's called pins and needles.
Lyla: Pins and needles? That's so silly.
Lyla (looking for the remote control to lower the volume on the TV): Mommy, were is the stop talking button. This is too loud.
Lyla (in a moment on introspection): Mommy, sometimes it's hard to be quiet. And sometimes it's also hard to wait for what I want.
And the question she asks me every single day: How is Baby Jack gonna come out of your belly? She sticks her eyeball right into my belly button as she asks. At my last sonogram, I told her to ask the doctor. Dr. Stone simply said "one way or another."
