Christmas Day

We spent all of Christmas day in our jammies opening presents, watching movies and snacking. Does it get any better than that? Dina, Rich, Nicolas and Christopher came over early Christmas morning for a frittata and french toast breakfast. Lyla hung out in the kitchen -- singing and dancing -- while me and my mom made breakfast. But once Nicolas arrived, she was in heaven. She can't help herself but to laugh and laugh and laugh no matter what he does. The theme of the gift giving for Nicolas was definitely Cars -- a Cars chair, Cars racetrack, and Cars, well, cars. Nic trying out his Cars chair. Chrissie giving the chair a try (it was actually pretty comfy) Later in the morning, Santa arrived...in sunglasses? Maybe he has cataract? What else you got in there for me, big guy? Are you sure about this, mom? You look awfully familiar. Lyla fell asleep before Santa had a chance to give her any presents. Nana got a snuggie :) With a free booklight! Score! And finally, the big reveal...It's a Car! Don't tell Rich, but Nic really liked Lyla's baby doll. But he was back to his trucks pretty quickly. Lyla's favorite toy of all -- the Oakster. So, we did actually get dressed up later that evening and I have one picture to prove it (playing with her new musical instruments, which she loves). My parents had a bunch of people over and it started out as a really great night, but around 7pm or so, Lyla started to get really cranky and uncomfortable. She seemed tired but wouldn't go to sleep and, long story short, Mark and I basically alternated rocking her all night long. We took her to Dr. Matt the next day and she had a double ear infection. He said she probably had it for awhile and what I was attributing to her new teeth was probably an ear infection. Our poor little chickie. But she was such a trooper the whole holiday and really hung in there and had fun on her first Christmas.
