Bethany Beach -- Part II

Our beach days were great, but our summer nights were just as fun. They were totally laid back, with lots of food, games, and running out for ice cream at 10 pm. Lyla hardly slept for an entire week but she had fun meeting all of her aunts, uncles and cousins. Poor thing got four -- yes, four -- teeth while we were there (including two molars) but managed to be pretty good about it. Kelly and Jules were so helpful and so fantastic with Lyla, as were all of Carla's boys.

Lyla took a lot of time getting to know all her relatives.  Here she is with Julia and Kelly the first night.

Showing Leah her balloon

Do you see a resemblance? At least in the hair?

The kids

John, Laurie and Mark

I don't think this family can take a bad picture. Beautiful.

The Kanias. Love those boys. Have I mentioned that?

Laurie and her girls

The Carrolls. They love turquoise and open shirts ;) We missed David a ton.

Our only family photo from the trip

Everyone took turns cooking dinner and boy did we eat well. We were surrounded by gourmet cooks, which was a little intimidating for me and Mark, the takeout professionals.

John, Nikki, Ari and Leah getting their grilled canteloupe ready. Yum.

Kristen and Austin brought lots of home-grown veggies and herbs.

The Kanias had a yummy taco/fajita night.

We had crabs one night, which I don't eat but I think the ritual of it is really fun! Newspapers to catch the mess, mallets, old bay, you get the idea.

Here is what my little rascal was up to while everyone else was eating crabs.

But, the trip was not without its problems. Apparently there was a good amount of late night drinking going on and on one occasion, the boys and the girls(the big kids that is) had to be told to go to bed. Mark is still chuckling about the fact that his father yelled at him. Was there too much fun being had? Let's turn to the tape...
