Back to Business
It's funny how your mindset changes almost immediately after Labor Day. You feel like you need to get back to business and catch up on all the things that you put off all summer. At least that's how I feel, but maybe I was just a slacker all summer.
We have a really busy couple of months coming up, so September is the time to focus!
I started a new job over the summer as the director of litigation training for my firm, so my work really ramps up in September when the new associates join the firm. I love being able to work with young associates and guide them during what can be a very hectic part of their career.
Mark has a bunch of trips planned for the Fall and a big ramp up for Davos. His company was selected by the World Economic Forum as a 2011 Technology Pioneer. It is a huge honor and the company got a ton of great press thanks in large part to Mark. Isn't it great being married to a PR guy? ;) (check out his cute picture in the first link).
In really big news, we are working on applications for Lyla's pre-school. The whole NYC pre-school/school thing is so crazy and we promised ourselves we wouldn't get caught up in it, but when push comes to shove, my big girl does need to get started in some structured environment. So, applications are submitted in September and interviews and observations are in October. In the meantime, we signed her up for the Downtown Community Center, where she has four classes a week in important subjects like tumbling, obstacle courses and sing-a-longs.
I also have a long bucket list of stuff I want to do with Lyla in the city this Fall. We love going to Long Beach in the Summer but it always feels good to be settled back at home 7 days a week and take advantage of what this great city has to offer. A few upcoming things on the roster for the Fall -- Governors Island, Central Park Zoo and the Met.
Oh -- and a new blog layout!
Happy September!
