Central Park Zoo

On Friday, the whole gang came in to go to the Central Park Zoo. Dyland and Dennis even met up with us after school. Lyla's favorite animals were the swan (aka the "quack quack") and the bear. Ever since the panda bear incident at Bowling Green, she has had a thing with bears.

It's not the biggest zoo in the world, but we saw a bunch of fun animals.

A snow leopard. Kind of scary to think that a leopard lives in Central Park, among the joggers and bicyclists.

The polar bears were awesome and pretty darn close to us.

We got to see a see lion feeding.

Nicolas is the best company. He is always so funny and so enthusiastic about everything. For every animal, he would declare "I see a monkey", "I see a bear." He even said "I see a bird" (it was a pigeon on the street) and "I see a dog" (a golden retriever). He is the best :) He formed a very special bond with this penguin who did not want to leave his side.

There is a children's petting zoo next to the main zoo. We got to see sheep, llama, a cow and a really ugly pig. I think Lyla liked the fake sheep best. It was this statue that was motion sensitive and "baa'ed" when you touched it. I could not tear her away from that thing.

She eventually warmed up to the real thing and almost fed it. She threw the pieces of kibble at it :)

I think she was a little bored.

But then Chrissy came over and lifted her spirits

And then the cow woke up. Lyla had a staring contest with him (and I'd put my money on Lyla -- she is a master starer)

Look at that mug!

Weird looking pig

After the zoo, we walked over to Victoria Gardens to ride on some of the rides. Nicolas and Dylan rode the little train together.

Dylan saying hi

After his success on the train, Nicolas was feeling bold. He and Dylan were looking for another ride and Nic had his sights set on this jumping frog ride.

It was ambitious -- it was a pretty bumpy ride. We ended up stopping the ride so someone could make an early departure ;)

Dylan chose to sit it out.

Lyla and I went on what could have been the most boring ride in existence. These little water boats did nothing but go in a circle. But she got her own seat and her own seatbelt and looked as cute as could be.

At the end of the day, we broke a cardinal rule and hopped in a cab home. It's exhausting having so much fun!
