What I Want to Remember About Lyla on 1/1/11

I am slightly embarrassed to say that we did not leave the house on this mild New Year's Day.  We were so comfy at home -- organizing, watching football and being entertained by Lyla -- there was no need to go out.  Here are a few things I want to remember about today.

Lyla cannot jump for anything.  She tries and tries, but she simply cannot get both feet of the ground at the same time.

Lyla can say the names of all the colors but cannot actually identify any of them by name (she usually guesses "peeenk" or "pu-ple" for every color).  Mark was half serious when he suggested she was color blind a few weeks ago.  But today we played a new color game where you have to match the picture to a color and learned that Lyla can properly identify and distinguish all of her colors.

Lyla is obsessed with our new Iphones.  Obsessed.  I'm thinking its both a blessing and a curse.  She was in full on meltdown mode today when I wouldn't let her play with Talking Tomkat, but let Mark and I have a relatively peaceful dinner last night, with an actual three courses.

She moved our ottoman a few inches and then told us she was strong.  Later in the day, she locked herself in the bathroom.

I think 2011 is going to be a great year for Lyla Grace.
